Jamila Sadat
Jamila Sadat is an Afghan artist specialising in illumination (Tazhib), calligraphy, and the preservation of historical manuscripts, with over a decade of experience in traditional Afghan and Persian decorative arts. She trained at the Turquoise Mountain Institute of Arts and Architecture in Kabul (2012–2015), where she mastered Behzad-style illumination — one of the most refined traditions in the Islamic world. Her practice has encompassed major international projects, including the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Calligraphy Project and the Silk Holy Qur'an Project, for which she created hundreds of individually illuminated artworks. Professionally, she has worked at Mehr Art Company and served as General Manager of Restoration and Preservation of Manuscripts at the National Archive of Afghanistan, overseeing the restoration of rare historical documents and supervising specialist teams. Jamila holds diplomas from City & Guilds London and has completed advanced professional courses supported by USAID.
