Dr Vivek Gupta
Dr Vivek Gupta is a historian and curator specialising in the art, architecture, and manuscript cultures of medieval and early modern South Asia, Central Asia, and Iran, with a particular focus on how the Timurid and Mughal dynasties shaped global artistic exchange from the fifteenth century onwards. He completed his PhD at SOAS University of London (2020) and is currently a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at UCL's Department of History of Art (2023–26), where he researches connected book histories across South, Central, and West Asia. He previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge, where he co-directs the Fitzwilliam Museum exhibition and research project Hindustani Airs: Music, Pleasure, and Cultural Exchange in Courtly Lucknow. His first book, Wonders of Hindustan: Artists and Books in the Early Modern World, is under contract. Vivek has held fellowships from the British Academy, the Smithsonian Institution, and the University of Cambridge, and has curated projects at institutions including the Fitzwilliam Museum and Jesus College, Cambridge. At CCA Tashkent, he has been researching modern artistic and intellectual entanglements between South and Central Asia.
