Aygul Sarsen is a contemporary painter and multimedia artist based in Nukus, Karakalpakstan, and a student at the Faculty of Arts, Berdakh Karakalpak State University. Her practice explores the inner self, identity and personal emotion alongside ecological narrative, drawing on Karakalpak folklore and the changing landscapes of the Aral Sea region.

Working primarily in oil, acrylic and installation, she builds emotive, mythological imagery reimagining the Aral as a feminine deity, reflecting the inner lives of women and the inherited stories of her homeland. Her work featured in The Aural Sea at the Uzbekistan National Pavilion, 61st Venice Biennale (2026), and in Sondyq (Chest) at Art Station, Samarkand (2025).
