Presentation of OSMON at Namuna Art Residency by Resident Matas Petrikas

On 15 May, Namuna Art Residency hosted the presentation of OSMON by composer and sound artist Matas Petrikas, presented by the Centre for Contemporary Arts Tashkent (CCA Tashkent).

OSMON is a generative VST instrument created by Matas Petrikas from Uzbek sonic material, including voices, traditional instruments, urban textures, and field recordings. Built on open-source software frameworks, it transforms location-based sound into a creative tool for electronic music production, film scoring, and sound design.

Rooted in experimental tool-making, Matas explores how local sonic heritage can be reinterpreted through contemporary workflows. The project bridges Tashkent’s soundscape with generative and AI-assisted approaches, rethinking how sound from place becomes creative software.
