A joint project of the participants of the research laboratory of the Centre for Contemporary Art Tashkent.
The project is an online space that embodies a variety of personal works inspired in one way or another by the City: its history, environment, inhabitants and the totality of these aspects.

The participants of the laboratory at the Centre for Contemporary Art were given extensive freedom and the opportunity to understand the city we live in through the lens of personal creative perception. The result of this process was works united by a common stream of (self-) reflection and gathered under a main leitmotif, which sets the foggy mirage of an almost fictional city, drawing out quite realistic paths and contours recognisable to the touch.
The project was conceived and created during the spring, summer and autumn of 2020. The weightlessness and a certain detachment from pressing events was destined by time. It was a great chance to

put your ear to the thick concrete wall and listen to what is going on behind it, to weave together the vision and fiction of the world of your familiar courtyard, while being separated from it by a pillar of thick dust.

Tashkent Futures 2022 is a memory of the past, a reflection on modern Tashkent and a fantasy of the future. Intertwining with each other, the layers of time form reliefs and then freeze in eternity. An attempt to fumble with the outlines of these massive figures leads to an oasis that someone might call home.

Do we live in the city? Or does the city fill its space with us?

Tashkent Film Encounters is a series of curated events by the Centre for Contemporary Art Tashkent. The project brings together international authors working in various disciplines in the capital of Uzbekistan and engages in dialogue with representatives of the local art scene. Each series of Tashkent Encounters is dedicated to a specific theme around which a public programme of discussions, lectures, exhibitions, performances and workshops are structured.

The first Tashkent Encounters event is dedicated to contemporary cinema in Central Asia. Directors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan presented their works, which have already become classics of contemporary cinema. This allows the audience to trace the evolution of the film language of these authors - from the early 90s to the present day.

Tashkent Music Encounters is a series of events that brings together musicians from traditional to experimental styles. The project is designed to create conditions for creative contacts and co-operation at the regional and international levels, to allow the general public to get acquainted with the work of musicians, and artists a platform for the development and formation of a community and listening audience, to provide participants with an opportunity to go beyond the traditional concert.
The first three-day Tashkent Music Encounters festival took place at the Centre for Contemporary Art Tashkent on 26-28 October 2022. The programme included performances by jazz band Jazzirama, artists
Rishat, Lallidin, Izzat Rustamov, and experimental electronic music duo Dzenpunk.
