Saodat Ismailova, artist: "The title of my exhibition in Uzbek is 'Qo’rg’on chiroq.' 'Qo’rg’on' is a word that often associates with antiquity and the mysteries of our ancestors. 'Chiroq' translates to 'light,' but it is also the name of a ritual that came to us from Zoroastrianism. Performing the 'chiroq' ritual, we light candles and lamps symbolizing the connection with ancestors, with forefathers and foremothers who live in the collective memory of our people. This image of light as a connection is very close to me because, on one hand, I work with the theme of collective memory, and on the other hand, I am a video artist, and light is the basis of my art."

Saodat Ismailova worked on the exhibition "Qo’rg’on chiroq" in collaboration with Andrea Lissoni, senior curator at London's Tate Modern gallery, and architects, co-founders of the Milan architectural firm GRACE, Ekaterina Golovatyuk and Giacomo Cantoni.
